November Projects

November was nesting month. Well actually it’s been since I first made my “nesting” note in my iPhone back in October, but the motivation came during the first few days of November. I wrapped up the nursery (reveal to come this week, as all that is left is to put up photos), made baby gifts, finished my Christmas shopping, and even sewed stockings and other Christmas decorating goodies. My serger went in for service 2 weeks ago…and well, I need it back this week as I thought up a few other things I wanted to make before my sewing becomes a thing I dream about for a few months. I think I have a problem. I need to have something finished that I can touch at the end of the day. Maybe it’s related to my Early Childhood teaching career….we did crafts every day. And while Lil’ A likes to do crafts…right now they really consist of her cutting. And boy, can she cut well! (Again, this is coming from a kindergarten teacher!) So the rest of the craft gets left and we just sit and cut.

Lil’ E loves to color. And even though some of the crayon creations have ended up on the wall and the couch cushion covers (it all came out, thanks to Magic Erasers & Zote soap!), I always enjoy coloring with her. She sings as she colors. It’s really cute. No one can understand the words, but she does, so I just hum along!

Another project we’ve been working on is preschool. Lil’ A just loves it. I think she is naturally like her Dad. He enjoyed studying I think. Secretly of course!

She talks about going to school and being big enough to ride the bus that she sees every morning go by our house. She likes science (as you can see below, this bubble craft was a hit!) and can count to 10 or sometimes even 15.

As you can see, I do really try to make my girls my number one project throughout the day. Today, I showed the Mister a picture…that I colored and said, “This is what I accomplished Friday.” 🙂

Here are the rest of my November Projects. A close friend just had her baby, so I put together somethings she could use for Baby Boy #3….you know, by number 3 you NEED to throw out some things!

I included a little box of flannel washcloths. I find they work really well in those first few weeks to clean up all those messy diapers almost painlessly. No basket from Daisy’s is complete without a Minky blanket. This one is doubled with blue minky. A receiving blanket and 3 extra large burp cloths I like to call “Everything Cloths”. I use them on the change table, to put on my shoulder when burping and on my lap when nursing. They are large, but not too big. About 27″x20″. I just double side a piece of flannel with a flat cloth diaper.

And last, but not least, I made suspenders & bow ties for the first time together. I think these are just adorable. Who said little boys don’t have cute things to wear!

I found it really fun to think outside my normal go to’s for a new baby being that he is boy #3 in the family. Although, we are about to add girl #3 to our family and there are some things that just need to go. You can only wash a wash cloth so many times! (And yes, I am 100% sure we are having a girl. The ultrasound tech looked a few times because of the shocked look on the Mister’s face.)

Last but not least…here are some sneak peaks at the nursery projects:

I’ll be doing a separate post on this as it is all done. I just need to get photos taken and things back up on the wall asap!

Happy Monday!
