Pizza Crusts & Momma’s shoes

So, I really think that parenthood is always going to be full of surprises.

Just when I was missing those moments that you have as a teacher when the children ask you to play dress up when them, my Lil’ A came out of  my walk-in closet wearing my shoes. I didn’t know whether to laugh or let myself tear up. God had given me just what I needed and the moment of  missing being in the classroom had quickly faded. Lil A has done this a few times since then. And it’s just so cute. She’s at the stage where she wants to copy everything that I am doing….even makeup. I know that it is a controversial topic among playgroups to even mention that your daughter plays with make-up at two, but honestly it’s so cute to have her standing on her stool beside me fluffing her face with pink blush. Enough said.

This post is feeling a bit messy in the flow realm, but I guess that’s what blogging is. Typing from the heart.

When I was a teacher, my first group of students gave me all their crusts on pizza day, because I said I liked crusts as the best part of a pizza. And each year, that same group of children would bring them to me at lunch. I am sure their teachers thought I was crazy, but they let them do it anyway. By the time I was pregnant with Lil’ A, I’d been teaching for 4 years and I had about 40+ crusts on my desk on pizza day. There were only a few I’d eat because I had watched how all the children ate, and some kids just eat with less moisture….and eat less of the pizza…meaning I could cut away some of the pizza and still have an “un-germy” crust.

Well, the other day, just after the shoe incident, Lil’ A gave me her crusts. And this time, a tear ran down my cheek (I know, over emotional!). But really, it showed me that those moments that I had teaching haven’t stopped and they are now even more precious to me because they are from my Lil’ A.

My Lil’ A, who has been the reason I started blogging-a way to get out my words, so our Superhero (aka Daddy & Husband) isn’t so overwhelmed.

My Lil’ A, the one who kicks me in the head with her little feet when she’s climbed into our bed at 3am cuz her stuffy noise woke her up.

My Lil’ A, the one who has so easily welcomed a little sister, Lil’ E, into our mix!

Yup, I wouldn’t trade this life for a million bucks. And I really mean that….someone out there-try me!

P.S. You will have to forgive my lack of blogging….It’s been a bit crazy around here….more to come on that later this week!
