Living Room re-do

So, we are still house hunting and with the current state of the United States’ debt ceiling, we are just waiting it out this week before making an offer on the house we really like.

So here’s a before of my current living room…I’m thinking ahead, so what I do here is going to be the plan in the new house. And the new house gets new paint in the living room-which I already have picked out.

Oh gotta love my untidy house. But I have kids. With kids comes little things all over the house-regardless how much you try and tidy.

The big change will be in the couches. They are Ikea, so the slipcovers are coming off (seriously, I should have just picked brown or white right off the bat. Stripes…no, no…) I’ve learned for future furniture purchases to buy classic pieces and colors-neutral!!! I think my style is pretty classic and I’m not buying expensive stuff for the girls to wipe their jammy hands on;)

Here’s my fabric for the room. I’ve been inspired by Sarah Richardson.

I’m making curtains, pillow covers and something I’m excited about-custom cushion covers for the arm chair. They will have the floral print on the front of the back cushion and the top of the sear cushion. The slipcover will be white. The top of the foot stool is going to be the same print and the bottom
Is white. Ikea white covers are only $49! And I’ve had multiple people tell me bleach keeps theirs white forever. For $49, I’ll try it. I was going to dye them, but the process is crazy long. For now I’ll be using my old blue stripe covers on the sofa and love seat. Eventually I’ll get a sandy brown color.

They are pricey, and I’m still waiting for my swatches, but it might be worth it if Ikea doesn’t come out with something new this year.

Let me know what you think of my fabric choices…but be nice-it took me 3 hours to decide. Tomorrow the order goes in. I thought I’d wait a day to make sure I really like the floral pattern.
