Mommy made faster

So, I love books. I’m sure you’ve figured that out if you’ve been reading lately.
This past week, I picked up a few new books on a whim while running into Indigo for a birthday gift. I picked up three books. The first was Karen Kingsbury’s new book, “Take Three”. If you’ve never read any of her books, you have to read at least one. I love that her books are real. Not real, as in non fiction or biographies, but real as in real situations that people go through. She fills them with scripture and the characters always go through a spiritual journey of sorts. And for those of you who don’t read much, I’ve seen the audio books….I’m just saying…

The second book was Kate Gosselin’s new book. Yes, I follow her and her little kidlets. I don’t care to comment on all the craziness, nor do I think that I’d live the way she does exactly, but I like they way she is as a mommy. She seems to be doing everything she can to take away the pain they are feeling and to tidy the upheaval they have been through. You can’t judge until you walk in a person’s shoes. I think it’s amazing that she is writing letters to her children….a thing that I am going to do for mine. Not that I’ll publish it…but you never know what’s around the corner.

The third book I bought was “Crazy Busy Beautiful” by Carmindy from What not to Wear. I have another book of hers and really it is the only beauty book that I’ve been able to take almost half of the tips and put them into practice.

This new book of hers is really just for moms in my opinion. I’ve never had my hair in a ponytail as much as I do now. And I can do a 3 minute face 🙂 But there are things that I miss and this book showed me that I can multitask when it comes to beauty! That’s wonderful!

So here’s a list of a few “Mommy Made Faster” tips for making us all gorgeous in just a few minutes (and even if you aren’t a mommy, we’ll let you use the tips too)

1. Always use Sunscreen-if your foundation doesn’t have SPF in it-just mix your liquid foundation with a dap of the white stuff and you’re good to go!

2. Dry skin=creamy cleansers & moisturizers
Oily skin=gel cleaners & oil free moisturizers

3. Clear lip gloss can be used to remove eye makeup!

4. Plain white sugar is the best exfoliant! Use it on your face and body in the shower (less mess on your counter and under you toes)

5. Put a dot of moisturizer on your elbows, ankles and knees before using self tanner! You won’t get dark, potentially orange spots there.

6. Powder Foundations can accentuate wrinkles! Make a switch!

7. Vitamin E cream does help reduce stretch marks-over time! You don’t need anything fancy. Just plain ol’ vitamin E cream. (I’ve actually done this one prior to reading the book. It works-mine are fading)

8. Eyeliner at night only-it’s too dark for daylight (ok, I’m guilty)

9. Use a white eyeliner pencil to draw on the brow shape you want. Only pluck what’s on the outside of your lines. This way you can see before hand if you’re eyebrows are even:)

10. Green eyes=plum or purple shadows, blue=go for brown & brown= blue, plum or green! Knowing what colors look better saves you time!

Ok, I’m actually getting tired, so I’ll finish my list later this week.

One more “off topic” tip:

I just saw the greatest tip! (I’m watching Rachel Ray)-instead of using paper to finger paint-us the dishwasher. Open the door, let the kids paint the inside of the door. Close it and push the wash button-no mess!!

Have a great week! I’m looking forward to some great sewing, parties & outreach with our church this week…how about you?

Krystle
